Michael Omar Harrington

Michael Harrington, 68, has been a youth advocate working with faith-based groups across the country for over forty years.

During the seventies. As a camp director, he trained young people in Faith-Based activism at Church encampments in the Texas hill country. Through the eighties he was a Youth Minister and ended up graduating with a Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

In the nineties Michael was ordained in the Lutheran Church (ELCA) and began working as a University Campus Minister and Faculty. He also published youth curriculum materials. By that time, he had four children, three stepchildren and one adopted teenager.

In the aftermath of the Columbine shootings he began working with anti-gun initiatives and youth bullying issues.  Post-911 he helped facilitate de-militarization actions. In 2004 Michael had a quadruple heart by-pass that forced a long recovery. During that time he began coordinating youth ministry service actions after his rehab. Then in the wake of Hurricane Katrina Michael led over 150 high school students through re-building projects in New Orleans from 2006 through 2010.

After Occupy Wall Street (2011) he helped found the Occupy Faith initiative which he now directs. Since then he has been networking thousands of theologians, practitioners, students and authors in creating an advocacy for Youth Voices of the 21st Century as the NAZareth Project.

In March of 2021 he founded – for ALL Children @ ALL Borders
